Mentor Opportunities
Covenant House New York Mentoring Program matches residents of Covenant
House’s Rights of Passage program with mentors from the New York City area. The
Rights of Passage program provides a safe, stable, and supportive environment
for young adults, aged 18-21, who are in the process of transitioning from
homelessness to independence. During their stay at Rights of Passage, which
is usually about 12-18 months, residents concentrate on learning the vocational,
educational, social, and practical skills they will need to live full adult
lives.
The mentor’s role is critical to the personal and professional development of
the residents, who in the past have frequently lacked effective adult
influences in their lives. Trained and supported by Rights of Passage staff,
mentors offer the residents consistent adult relationships beyond the program,
and put into perspective the challenges of a career and the factors needed for
success.
Please come and join us at our next Mentor Orientation. In order to become a
mentor with our agency you have to be at least 27 years of age or older.
