On February 3, 2011 Covenant House celebrated the graduation of 80 youth from the Rights of Passage program.
The evening began with tons of cheers as the Covenant House kids, dressed in cap and gown, entered the ceremony. The room was filled with love from peers, staff, friends of Covenant House, and the board of directors.
After encouraging words from the Rights of Passage director Dave Gregorio, Executive Director Jerome Kilbane, and President Kevin Ryan, two very special Covenant House graduates told their stories. They spoke of the struggles that brought them to Covenant House, what they have accomplished in the Rights of Passage program, and what graduating meant to them.
Keynote speaker, Daniel Walker a Lieutenant of the FDNY engaged the room as he shared a personal story and encouraged the graduates to keep following their dreams.
The ceremony came to a close as each youth proudly received a diploma marking their great accomplishment. The evening was filled with encouragement and support which a made for a very special night for the Covenant House graduates!
