Drop-in Center/Outreach Workers:

The Outreach Workers will serve as an advocate for Covenant House New York Youth in a Drop-in Center environment.  They will assist Youth in the continuation of their case plans.  Outreach Workers will provide support and referrals to internal components for service or referrals to other appropriate service providers. Candidates must be able to complete documentation of work done with Youth in case records and ETO.

Outreach Workers will perform community outreach using the Covenant House van and foot patrols.  

Outreach Positions requires a late afternoon schedule with weekend shifts.  Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum one year experience in a residential or community program setting and one year experience working with at-risk adolescents is required. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of agency policies and procedures.

Must have a valid New York State License and a clean driving record. 

Must be comfortable driving in New York City and outer-boroughs.


Grant Writer

The Grant Writer will formulate and write Government grant proposals, Corporation letters of inquiry, reports and other related communications.  Candidate must be able to develop and prepare budgets and prepare supporting materials for mailings.  Will be required to research and identify new Government grants for Program support; track grants and deadlines and ensure timely submissions of required documentations.  Candidate must be able to work closely with Covenant House Development and Program Staff to become familiar with a wide array of programs and ensure compelling and high quality report submissions.

The successful Candidate must be able to conduct site visits/tours and facilitate phone conversations to engage Funders and address questions and/or concerns.  

Bachelors Degree required with at least three years’ experience in grant writing preferred.

Must exhibit exemplary writing, interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meeting a demanding schedule of deadlines is essential.

Resident Advisor

The Resident Advisor will ensure that immediate needs are met and will provide counseling and concrete services to runaway, homeless and at-risk adolescents within a residential and long-term transitional program.

This position requires a B.A. degree; good verbal and written communication skills; flexibility; counseling and advocacy skills; and experience working with at-risk youth. 

Applicants must be able to work a rotating schedule including weekends, overnights and holidays.  

Bilingual, Spanish speaking desirable.

Must have a valid New York State License and be comfortable driving a seven passenger van.
