During our lifetime, we are bound to experience a traumatic event, i.e., a death, bereavement, medical diagnosis, disability, addiction, one that marks our lives as well as of those closest to us forever. Nothing will be the same after this moment and there’s nothing that one can do to restore the sense of tranquility, peace, comfort, that you had before this particular even. When we experience a tragedy/disaster, it calls into question our basic assumptions about the future and producing massive amounts of anxiety and psychic pain. This workshop examines the definition of trauma, its roots and consequences, as well as coping skills and life affirming behaviors. The format is interactive with the use of case studies and with ample time for discussion.
