November 27, 2006 -- Annual Vermont Thanksgiving

On November 21, 2006 Covenant House New York held its Annual Vermont Thanksgiving at its Rights of Passage facility. Started in 1987 by a small group from Danville, Vermont, this year marked the 19th year that a group of volunteers traveled to New York City in order to provide a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to the young people of Covenant House. Early that morning, the group from Vermont, along with some young people of Covenant House, attended the CBS Early Show and met Dave Price, CBS morning weatherman.

In total, more than thirty individuals came from Vermont. The morning was filled with preparation and cooking of different dishes for the young people. The dinner feed more than 400 hundred people. All the food was donated from local community members in Danville, Vermont. The individual responsible for collect donations is Janet Wakefield. She has been involved from the beginning.

Covenant House New York is so grateful for the dedication and generosity of these individuals. The Vermont Thanksgiving is one of the most anticipated events throughout the year. Overall, the event was terrific and another huge success.
