July 18, 2006 -- Staten Island Community Fair
On Friday, July 14, Covenant House hosted a fair at New Brighton's Mahoney Playground to celebrate the community and provide some information surrounding Covenant House services. By filling the community with activities Covenant House is able to educate the attendees about the abundance of services we offer for not just homeless or run-way youth, but for everyone in the area. There was a primary focus of this fair and that was health and well-being in the Staten Island community. Booths from various organizations were invited by Covenant House to come and discuss health problems impacting the community. Fidelis Care, Community Health Action, Project Hospitality, and Ready New York were all present for the day. Although a serious attention was paid to these matters, the day was fun-filled as well. Games, a deejay, snow cones, popcorn and sandwiches, were all the perfect way to start off a beautiful July weekend. Covenant House also provided a face painter for all of the kids present.
