June 20, 2006 -- Covenant House Holds Fifteenth Annual Golf Outing

On June 19, 2006 Covenant House New York, along with Covenant House New Jersey, held its Fifteenth Annual Golf Invitational Outing at beautiful Hackensack Country Club. The day began with a luncheon, welcoming our golfers and allowing them the opportunity to loosen up before hitting the course. After lunch, each foursome went to their designated hole in order to simultaneously begin the round of golf. Throughout the golf course, there were certain holes that offered the chance to win $25,000 or a dinner for four at Morton’s Steakhouse. (A special thanks to Morton’s Steakhouse for grilling up some steak on the twelfth hole. It was delicious).

After the round, the golfers, along with Covenant House staff and volunteers gathered together for a buffet style dinner where Jim McGuire, Golf Invitational organizer, shared his thoughts about Covenant House, its mission, and ways to continue supporting the youth of Covenant House. At the dinner, two Covenant House residents shared their stories with those in attendance in order to shed some light of the work of Covenant House. Overall, the event was a huge success. We would like to thank Jim McGuire, all those who volunteered, and especially everyone who attended the outing. We look forward to see you on the greens next year.
