December 15, 2005 -- Covenant House New York receives 25 Quilts
For the past two years, a group from St. Peter the Apostle Parish in River Edge, New Jersey has taken time out of their lives to hand stitch quilts for Covenant House New York’s mothers and children. This group, lead by Marge Haggerty, started this project in 2004 in order to provide a helping hand to those less fortunate. Marge Haggerty, a quilter since 1974, decided to donate her time and talents to Covenant House New York to benefit our homeless and at-risk teenage population. She approached Msgr. Robert Slipe of St. Peter’s Parish and was given his blessing on the project. Last year Maggie Haggerty and her group donated 14 quilts. This year, with a group of over 30 women, donated 25 quilts. Covenant House New York and all of the mothers and children would like to thank Marge Haggerty and the rest of the women for their kindness and generosity during the holiday season.
