October 27, 2005 -- Covenant House New York hosts Domestic Violence Forum
On October 24, 2005, Covenant House New York hosted a Domestic Violence Forum in accordance with National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Over 100 people attended this forum. Each attendee heard from a panel of six experts presenting on a variety of different issues surrounding domestic violence. Topics discussed included: legal actions that can be taken, statistics involving survivors and occurrences, and sources to go to for help. In addition to having the six panelists speak, Covenant House New York was privileged to have a recent survivor of domestic violence, who showed great courage, tell her story to the audience. She certainly provided hope to all domestic violence survivors. Covenant House New York was honored and truly grateful to have had the following individuals contribute their time to serve on our panel: Ms. Dolores Dereszewska, Ms. Fran Riley, Ms. Ayana Rush, Ms. Lethy Liriano, The Honorable Patricia Henry, and Ms. Katharine Krall. We would personally like to thank everyone who attended and especially our panel for making this forum a huge success.
