If you work with teen and pre-teen girls of color and you’re seeking culturally relevant and creative teach them how to build character, self-esteem, self-respect and positive values, attend this workshop and gain tools to empower your girls to thrive. Adapted from Cassandra Mack's national curriculum "Her Rite of Passage: How To Design, Develop and Deliver A Rites of Passage Program for African-American Girls and Young Women" this workshop will help you understand the essential elements that are needed to create a formalized African-centered rites of passage program for girls in your school, community or agency. The Her Rite of Passage curriculum presents a complete rites of passage program that shows you exactly what to do from start to finish. It offers 42-workshop sessions based on the principles of Kwanzaa. Moreover, you'll learn what elements to include in your initiation retreat and crossover ceremony. The curriculum is rooted in the African-centered framework. However the program is inclusive so adolescent girls from all backgrounds can participate in order to learn, build and grow together..
